About the Directorate
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Directorate of Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) was established in September, 2020 to strategically manage and support the technological infrastructure and digital services that enable teaching, learning, research, and administration within the institution. Its primary role is to facilitate academic and administrative operations, drive digital innovation, uphold IT governance and security standards, boost operational efficiency, and deliver a seamless technology experience for users.

Directorate Units
Technical Support Unit
Responsible for the following operations and activities:
• Install, maintain, repair and support institutional hardware including but not limited to desktops, laptops, printers, projectors, scanners, routers, switches, servers, racks, UPS systems, storage devices, and smartphones
. • Provide technical support to staff and students of the university, including training. •
Provide technical support to lecture rooms and public spaces fitted with hardware.
Networking & Infrastructure Unit
Responsible for the following operations and activities: – Install, maintain, repair and support institutional network infrastructure including but not limited to: access points, radio devices, routers, switches, servers, racks, UPS systems, storage devices, and network cards. – Provide networking support to staff and students of the university, including but not limited to – BTU Network User Registration, – BTU Network Connectivity Troubleshooting, – Providing policy guidance for institutional decision-making
Web & Applications Unit
Responsible for the following operations and activities: • Planning, design, development, and testing of new systems, • Deployment and support for systems • Troubleshooting and debugging applications • Monitoring, updates, upgrades of existing systems and security • Server engineering and admin responsibilities • End User support and training • Management of the university website and all web applications of the university. • Management of Management Information System (MIS) of the university and Support Services
Academic Support & eLearning Unit
Responsible for the following operations and activities: • Development of a strategic eLearning plan • Gather information and course elements from members of staff, various departments etc. • Develop and design e-Learning material, with the help of instructional designers, graphic designers, and programmers to support eLearning content • Coordinate and review educational content and incorporate current technology in developing specific eLearning curricula. • Support the deployment of learning programs including uploading and updating course content, and learner notification text • Provide training to individuals and users groups. • Ensure users are registered for education and training events • Coordinate and lend expertise in technical aspects of eLearning to various departments as may be required

Brief Biography
Patrick Kutuah Sinabisi is a highly skilled and dedicated ICT professional with over sixteen years of extensive experience in the field. His career is built on a solid educational foundation, culminating in a Master of Science in Information Technology from KNUST. Beginning his professional journey with a focus on hardware and networking, Mr. Sinabisi has progressively expanded his expertise to encompass strategic IT infrastructure management, software deployment, and leading digital transformation initiatives. His role as Assistant Registrar (ICT) at the Directorate of ICT involves overseeing critical ICT operations, where he is instrumental in driving digital innovation and enhancing operational efficiency to support the university's academic and administrative goals. With a unique blend of technical proficiency and managerial acumen, Mr. Sinabisi specializes in aligning technology with institutional objectives. His experience in tertiary education has equipped him to effectively manage complex IT environments, lead teams, and implement solutions that foster a robust and forward-looking digital ecosystem for staff and students.

Mr. Richard Azunre has been a key technical staff of the university for over a decade. He has provided countless solutions to daily institutional technological challenges while being involved in planning, deploying, evaluating, and maintaining institutional computing and networking infrastructure and systems. He has contributed significantly to the design, installation, and operalization of multiple computing laboratories and other centers utilizing computing equipment. Since 2019, he has served as the Network Administrator and Unit Head of the Network Support Services Unit of the ICT Directorate. In this time, he has been responsible for designing, deploying, troubleshooting and managing the university-wide network infrastructure. Under his management, the university network has grown to over 35 wireless access points in all administrative and academic buildings providing internet connectivity for more than 4000 students and staff. He is also responsible for the deployment, maintenance and management of the campus-wide Closed-Circuit-Television (CCTV) Infrastructure. Aside from the above core duties, Mr Azunre also serves as the Administrator of the ID Card Support Services and systems, the BTU Email Support Services and systems, BTU Graduation Certificate Production, and the Multimedia Services of the directorate. On a regular basis, Mr Azunre is involved in designing and delivering training workshops for staff of the university, as well as facilitating training workshops for other organisations and institutions.

Notable Achievements or Ongoing Research Projects:
- Has served as the Network Administrator since 2019.
- Design, deploy, troubleshoot and manage the university-wide network infrastructure since 2017.
- Design, installation, operationalisation and management of the BTU Data Center Server Room and its related systems since 2022.
- Design, deployment and management of the campus-wide Closed-Circuit-Television (CCTV) Systems since 2023, as well as integration of isolated CCTV systems into the BTU Data Center.
- Was responsible for the assembly, installation and operationalisation of the Cyber Security Laboratory deployed in 2021 (donated by Cyber Ghana).
- Design, operationalisation, and management of the BTU ID Card Systems and Services of the ICT Directorate, which is responsible for producing institutional ID Cards for all students and staff.
- Design, operationalisation and management of the BTU Certificate Printing System which has been used to produce all BTU Graduation Certificates since the 2021/2022 Graduating Class.
- Contributed to the compilation of numerous university ICT policies and strategies including the Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP), University ID Card Policy, University Email Policy, Bring Your Own Device Policy (BYOD), CCTV Policy, Computing Resources Acceptable Use Policy, and BTU ICT Strategy, among others.
- Deployment and operationalisation of multiple Smartboards, Projectors and Projector Screens in academic facilities.
- Design and delivery of the Smartboard & Projection Training for Academic Staff in February of 2025, alongside Mr Patrick Sinabisi and Mr Cyril Donbeinaa.
- Google Classroom Training Workshop for Academic Staff to improve subject delivery, student interaction and continuous assessment in February of 2024.
- Live online streaming of BTU Graduation Ceremony on the BTU YouTube Channel in 2021, 2022, and 2023.
- Lead member of the GHAPSA 2019 Local Organising Committe’s Accreditation Sub- Committee in charge of the Accreditation Cards for competitors and officials. Presided over the production process that was lauded as the first in GHAPSA history to be completed prior to commencement of the games.
- Formed and coached the first BTU Basketball Team in 2018 and coached them to 3 consecutive tournaments at GHAPSA 2017, GHATUSA 2019, and GHATUSA 2022.

Naa Bogbire Albert is a seasoned and innovative ICT professional with nearly two decades of experience in the technology sector. As a Senior ICT Technician, he brings a wealth of practical knowledge and a proven track record in developing robust software solutions that address complex challenges. His career, marked by a journey from foundational hardware and networking roles to advanced software development, showcases a deep commitment to technological mastery. Albert has leveraged his expertise to support numerous companies and individuals, helping them strategically implement digital solutions to significantly enhance productivity and operational efficiency. Driven by a passion for cutting-edge technology, Albert is currently advancing his academic journey by pursuing an MPhil in Computer Science at the CK Tedam University of Technology and Applied Science. His research is focused on the innovative application of Artificial Intelligence, specifically seeking to improve the Random Forest algorithm for more accurate and reliable rainfall prediction.

Biography Donbeinaa Cyril Zunou is a dedicated and skilled IT Technician with a strong background in computer systems, troubleshooting, and providing exceptional customer support. He is an alumnus of Dabokpa Technical Vocational Institute in Tamale and holds a Professional Diploma in Network Engineering from NIIT, Tamale, earned in 2012. With extensive hands-on experience in both hardware and software repairs, Cyril is adept at diagnosing and resolving a wide range of technical issues. His core mission at the Information and Communication Technology Directorate is to ensure the smooth operation of the university's IT resources, providing reliable technical support to both staff and students. Driven by a passion for technology and problem-solving, Cyril is currently channeling his expertise into a personal venture: launching a computer hardware repair shop aimed at serving individuals and small businesses in the community. He genuinely enjoys helping others maximize the potential of their technological devices. Outside of his professional pursuits, Cyril is an avid swimmer and enjoys hiking, activities that reflect his energetic and determined approach to both work and life.
