Biography

Mr. Samuel Aduko is a highly distinguished and chartered procurement professional who has been at the helm of procurement operations at the university since its polytechnic era. As the foundational head of the procurement function, he has been instrumental in its evolution from a small unit under the Finance Department into a fully-fledged, mature Directorate as mandated by the university’s revised statutes.

With a robust academic background including an MSc in Procurement and Supply Chain Management and status as a Chartered Member of CIPSUK, Mr. Aduko possesses a deep understanding of both local and international procurement best practices. He has attended numerous workshops and seminars on the Ghana Public Procurement Act, ensuring the university’s compliance and strategic alignment with national regulations.

Beyond his core duties of managing all university procurement, Mr. Aduko shares his expertise as a facilitator for MSc students at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology’s Institute of Distance Learning, Tamale Centre.

Notable Achievements:

  • Architect of the Procurement Directorate: Spearheaded the establishment, development, and successful redesignation of the Procurement Unit into a full Directorate in 2017.
  • World Bank Project Expertise: Successfully managed nine (9) TALIFWorld Bank (Teaching and Learning Innovation Fund) procurement projects from inception to completion.
  • Infrastructure & Capital Development: Coordinated the procurement processes for major construction projects, including student hostels, the Rector’s Bungalow, the Polytechnic Guest House, internal roads, and renovations of administrative blocks, lecture halls, and the library complex.
  • Recognition of Excellence: Led the university’s procurement unit to achieve a “Mature Stage” rating in the Public Procurement Assessment rating for 2018 and 2019. A subsequent PFMRP report confirmed the unit as a well-established and Functional Procurement Unit under his leadership.
  • Strategic Procurement: Managed the procurement of critical laboratory equipment for multiple academic departments, vehicles, and day-to-day operational needs, ensuring value for money.
  • Industry Leadership: Serves as an external assessor and chairperson for interview panels for procurement positions, both internally and for other institutions like St. Bosco College of Education.
